January 2010 Update 02.02.10
To all Alumni and Friends of X-Men Football
As January comes to a close, I just wanted to send out a quick update to all our alumni and fans across the country. We have been hard at work recruiting what has the potential to be a great 2010 class, and we have secured a few recruited players who will be mentioned in an update that will soon follow this one.

We would be remiss to not announce our worthy All-Canadians from the past year. We had two first team All-Canadians in 2009, WR Akeem Foster and LB Henoc Muamba. They were joined by three second team All-Canadians in DE Dave Skillen, LB Tom Lynch, and DB Dylan Hollohan. Tom Lynch was also nominated for the President’s Trophy (Defensive Player of the Year in the CIS), and first year DT Nate Annan was up for the CIS Rookie of the Year Award. All six of these players represented our school well at the Vanier Cup All-Canadian festivities, and with three of them sure to return next season we definitely have a strong base to build from.
One of those aforementioned players, DB Dylan Hollohan, also recently had the opportunity to represent our school and our country in the first Team USA vs. Team World game played in Florida. Dylan started and played most of the game at the Free Safety position, logging many tackles and playing an overall good game. It was surely a great opportunity for Dylan to meet many of the best young football players across the world.
We also have three players who have been invited to represent our school and the annual CFL Evaluation Combine to be held in Toronto. This is an invitation only event at which the top CFL Draft prospects get a chance to work out in front of all the CFL teams. WR Akeem Foster, DB Nick Riva, and DB Cauchy Muamba will all be in attendance.

It is also my pleasure to announce two transfer students who will be joining our team for the 2010 season. Both of these students started classes on campus in January, and are currently training with our team. They are:
DE Chris Hodgson - 6'3" 255lbs
Fredericton, New Brunswick
Transfer from UNB

As always, assistance from our alumni is vital to our recruiting success, and there are many different ways to get involved. One way is to donate Air Miles to our program. It is extremely important that we get our top recruits out to Antigonish on a visit at some point in the recruiting process. Once they see the school and the atmosphere here, they get very excited about becoming a member of the X-Men Family. Also, these Air Miles help my assistant coaches and I travel to various areas to help identify and meet with recruits all over the country and abroad. These are an extremely valuable commodity to us and any help we can get in this regard is appreciated. Other ways to help support our travels include donating things such as Hotel vouchers, Rental Car discounts, or any other kind of non-monetary assistance you can contribute.

In closing I would like to again thank all of our alumni and fans for their continued support. This is surely an exciting time of year, and with your help we are committed to bringing in a great recruiting class filled with quality student-athletes.
Hail and Health,
