August 2009 Update 08.31.09
To all Alumni and Friends of X-Men Football
The autumn weather is beginning to roll into Antigonish and, as always, it’s bringing the coming football season along with it. We are only a few short days away from the start of Training Camp, which begins the two week countdown to our first game, which is a home game against the St. Mary’s Huskies on September 12th. They are putting the finishing touches on our brand new field, and many of the players have already returned to town in preparation of camp. It is indeed an exciting time of year.

We held, in August, the first ever meeting of our Antigonish Booster Club. We had a good turnout despite short notice, and we had a great inaugural meeting. We are planning on holding our second meeting prior to the start of our season. Also, we are working on scheduling an official meet and greet session with our Antigonish Booster club and our returning players as well as our incoming freshman. People who attend will get an opportunity to talk some football, meet the players, and get involved with the team.

We also held, in August, the first annual X-Men Football Coaches Retreat. We traveled to the Tuonela Resort in Cape Breton where we spent a great weekend of professional development and good times. It was an invaluable experience as the resort is located deep in the woods, away from all distractions (and cell phone reception), allowing us to focus on our offensive and defensive systems, as well as overall team goals and expectations. We certainly returned from the weekend as a unified coaching staff that is all on the same page.
Finally, I have one last committed recruit to announce:
